Something About a Bear by Jackie Morris is a masterful book on bears. She tells information about eight different bears in a very melodic way. It's just a peek at each bear, and its habitat. The artwork is brilliant watercolors. There are tiny details, wondrous washes, and other curious critters abound. I am so impressed with the claws, they are so realistic.
This title will work well with PreK to 3rd grade. I'd use it as an introduction to bears and then let the class find more informational texts to write a report or give a report on another animal. This picture book shows that you can give specifics with habitat, offspring, dangers, and feeding habits in a concise paragraph.
