Abigail by Catherine Rayner is so charming. Catherine is from the UK and I've just happened upon her this year. Abigail was published in 2013. Catherine's screen printing and painting is so lovely. The warmhearted stories match the watercolors, printed art, and pencil, charcoal, and ink drawings.
Abigail loves to count and this is a counting book, but it's so much more. It's friends having fun, it's an intro to the hot, African Savannah, and a few of its creatures. One of my favorite pages is the counting flowers page where we find how lovely the humor of the author/illustrator. Zebra and Cheetah count like toddlers.
I'm using this title with Preschoolers and Kindergarteners.
