Swamp Chomp by Lola M. Schaefer, illustrated by Paul Meisel is a quite digestible book on a wetlands food chain. Using just a few words each page, Schaefer paints the swamp or wetland as a beast eat beast story with attractive art.
The artwork was created with pen and ink, watercolor, acrylic, pencil, and pastel on Arches hot press watercolor paper. It shows more in depth what eats what in the wetlands. The first part of the book the animals are waiting on their prey, then it leaps to the animals eating their chosen prey. There's an endnote about the wetlands food chain. This is a terrific book to use in Storytime for Science or with Kindergarten to Second grade. I'll share this title with parents and teachers to help with STEM application.
