May the Stars Drip Down by Jeremy Chatelain, illustrated by Nikki McClure is such a lovely, poetic book. The text and pictures follows through the night to the morning. I imagine the words and art go over the scenes of the day to slowly put a child to sleep.
The artwork was torn and cut paper. I love the glimpse we get into the passage of time, through the evening and day activities. In the beginning, the stars are die cut holes and it makes some very nice shadows as you turn the page. I wish there were more die cuts throughout the book. I'll recommend this story to parents to read with their children. It will make the perfect bedtime read aloud.
