Shoe Dog by Megan McDonald, pictures by Katherine Tillotson is about a little dog that was adopted from the animal shelter. You can imagine why he's called Shoe Dog, he likes to chew and chew and chew and chew on shoes. The first time he's kicked out of the bed. Then he's banished to the corner rug. After the next shoe-fest-ithon, he ends up downstairs on the cold floor all by himself. I feel so sad for him. Finally, herself (that's what the lady in the story is called) gets Shoe Dog his own shoe. You'll love what kind of shoe he gets.
The illustrations for this book were created with crayon and charcoal and combined digitally. I really love the movement in the puppy and the textures in the pictures. Any child or family with a pet will be able to relate to this story and the trials that go with pets. It's an adorable story with delightful art.
