Wonderful Wednesday

Time for Bed, Fred! by Yasmeen Ismail is a rambunctious romp of a tale.  Poor Fred, the dog, it's time for bed, but does he want to go to bed?  Of course not!  Sounds like some sweet children I know.  Fred runs all over trying to get out of going to bed.  Children will love to follow Fred on his avoiding bed routine and want to read it again and again.
The watercolor paintings are full of movement and life.  The opaque quality brings out the real-life feel of this book. I love the picture with Fred in the flower bed and shaking out the water on the clothes hanging on the line.  He hides outside as well as inside the house.  Finally, Fred is in bed. I think he exhausted himself.  Very young children to first graders will fall in love with Fred.  This title can be used as a going to bed read aloud, a dog theme or just because it's a fun read.
