Froggy Gets A Doggy by Jonathan London, illustrated by Frank Remkiewicz is a terrific addition to the 'Froggy' series. Froggy and his family go to the animal shelter and pick out a pet. At first Mom doesn't want a dog, but the sweet doggy eyes turn on the charm and Froggy is taking home a puppy.
I like this story because I LOVE the Froggy stories, but this adds an additional step of going to the shelter, not buying a puppy, and the responsibility of taking care of a dog. Of course there are surprises with a new pet, and Froggy has an embarrassing one. I like how this series of picture books has Froggy learning and growing and the family having new experiences.
This cartoon illustrations done with personality and character. The humor and playfulness are combined so well with art and text. The way that Froggy is growing up and taking on chores reminds me of how children and their families grow. Froggy is growing right along with them.
