Flora and the Flamingo by Molly Idle just received the Caldecott Honor! Congratulations Molly! This gem of a book is done with Prismacolor pencils. It's a wordless book so all the character interaction, the flow of the story is pure illustration genius.
There's a great interview with Molly at the Seven Impossible Things blog here with Jules. I love the light and airy feel of this story. There is discordance at a point, but then Flora and the flamingo are in sync once again. You can almost hear music in the background as these two dance and play. I'll use this with Storytime as well as recommend it to children three years and older.
