Friday Favorites

Let's Go, Hugo! by Angela Dominguez is an inspirational book about conquering your fears.  Hugo is a bird but he prefers to walk, instead of flying.  He's really afraid of flying and when he meets a new friend who wants him to fly somewhere with her, he has to decide to take a leap of faith.
The artwork was created with love with Canson paper, ink, tissue paper on Strathmore illustration board.  The pictures are as soft and sweet as Hugo.  This dear little bird will melt your heart and make you cheer for him when he finally gets up his courage.
Kids will love this heroic story; we can all identify with Hugo and his fear.  I'll use this in Preschool Storytime and with school-age children up to second grade.  I love this page: "Hugo took a tiny step away from the tree. Then another. And another. Until..." The process of getting up his courage is so moving.  That's how it's done.
