Fabulous Friday

On a Beam of Light: A Story of Albert Einstein by Jennifer Berne, pictures by Vladimir Radunsky is biography picture book.  It begins with the Albert being born, and ends with encouraging children to wonder, think, and imagine, like him.
The illustrations in this book were rendered in gouache, pen, and ink.  It looks like homemade paper was used, also.  The pictures give an old world feeling to this title.  Each person, plus Albert, has great character in this nonfiction report.  With words and pictures, the curiosity of Albert Einstein shines through.  It's an easy read and I'd share this with children in Kindergarten to fourth or fifth grade. This would be an immense introduction to a unit on scientists.  I might use this with preschoolers, 4 - 5 year-olds group, depending on the group.
