Will Allen and the Growing Table by Jacqueline Briggs Martin, illustrted by Eric-Shabazz Larkin is a biographical story about Will Allen's endeavor to grow city gardens. The process of taking his childhood farming knowledge with him after basketball in Belgium, to growing his own garden and buying a city lot to open greenhouses in Milwaukee, and then expanding "Growing Power" into a world-wide corporation is quite an inspirational story.
The art is done in ink and pen, and markers to make an image or color, then digitally matched with scaned textures and objects. I love the abstract backgrounds with the drawn and colored people and items.
There is a surprising amount of worm information in this book. There is an author's note, resources and an afterword by Will Allen.
