I'm the Scariest Thing in the Jungle written and illustrated by David G. Derrick, Jr. is fantastic! The watercolors are perfect and the expressions on the animals are priceless.
A Bengal tiger cub and a baby crocodile argue who is scarier. They keep going on with the boasting until they realized they don't know where mom is and then they're both scared!
The illustrations are ripe with color, the words for the crocodile are in green, like him, and the words for the tiger are in orange, like him or her. It doesn't designate gender, but I read it as if they're males. Depends on the reader, I guess.
Either way, kids will identify with the bragging and one upmanship and they'll learn about crocodiles and tigers in India. So this book is for Preschoolers, ages 4-5 to third grade, I'd say.
