Mr. Wuffles! by David Wiesner is another win for the wordless picture book group. Well, actually there is some alien speech, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet, and the 'person' in the story talks to Mr. Wuffles a few times.
The art was executed in watercolor and India ink.
Watch the panels carefully, is that really a cat toy? I love how Wiesner's books appeal to the middle and older elementary crowd. With this title you really have to watch the story carefully, and go back and forth and notice and try to catch the small things.
This will also be a good title to add to my list for the many ELL students in our schools. Wordless or nearly wordless books help ELL students figure out how stories work. And they are useful for students that are not quite reading on their grade level yet.
