The Cart That Carried Martin by Eve Bunting, illustrated by Don Tate is a heartfelt story. It is a historical tale about the plain, old cart that carried Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s coffin to the Church for the service, through Atlanta, on to Morehouse College and now is in the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site.
The artwork was done in pencil and gouache on watercolor paper. The illustrator was able to portray the humbleness of the cart and the greatness of Dr. King. It's a simple, short part of Dr. King's story, but told with great heart.
