Saturday with Daddy by Dan Andreasen is one of those in between books, not a board book, and not just a regular paper picture book. The pages are slick and thicker than normal.
As the little elephant goes through the day, a Saturday with his dad, he enjoys doing a regular cook-out day.
The artist used oil on bristol board to create the illustrations for this book.
It's simple, cute, and just right for the child that doesn't have to have a board book or they'll destroy the book, but not quite ready for longer picture books; I'm thinking 2ish to 4, depending on the child.
My only criticism is that the elephants have very short noses. But I think the purpose of that is that they really aren't elephants, it's a family.
