Into the Pumpkin by Linda Franklin is whispy, ghostly tale. Beautiful watercolor paintings are accompanied by rhyming text. It features the usual spooky characters: black cat, bats, ghouls, and witches. Although I've emailed the publisher and tried to find out more information. I haven't been able to figure out exactly how the paintings are made to look so eerie. I'll keep looking for how the technique is done.
This title is a good Halloween read and the artwork is rendered in an interesting way. I would guess that there was a layer of white watercolor or gouache laid on top of the picture and dried with saran wrap to get the mysterious affect.
