Mousie Gets Lost in the Housie
Itsy-Bitsy Baby Mouse by Michelle Meadows, illustrated by Matthew Cordell is rendered in pen and ink with watercolors. Poor mousie gets lost and has some trouble finding her way home. Of course she runs across the cat and gets directions from another mouse, but finally finds her way home. It's a lively romp through the house, in rhyming words and detailed pictures. My favorite pages are two-page spreads, one of mouse realizing that she is lost and the second after getting directions, 'climbs up on a ledge, and crosses and hops down off the edge,' but the picture shows the path that mouse takes. Mouse meets a ladybug along the way and gets kisses and hugs when mama and papa find her. This title would be good to use in a Storytime on fears, or lost and found. It would also be a great read one-on-one with a parent or grandparent.
