Brother Sun, Sister Moon: Saint Francis of Assisi's Canticle of Creatures reimagined by Katherine Paterson, illustrated by Pamela Dalton is a a gracefully rendered verse with cut paper and watercolor. Set on a black background the illustrations pop with watercolors and cut papers depicting the lines of each verse.
I adore the full page illustration with the verse "We praise you for Sister Moon and all our Sister Stars, who clothe the night with their beauty and, like you, watch over us while we sleep." It captivates with the moonlit scene.
My other favorite is the page that praises Sister Death. It has a score of butterflies that surround the setting.
I don't see using this with a Storytime, because of it's religious appeal, but keeping it in mind for reader's advisory. I could easily see suggesting it to one of my homeschool families or for a study of poetry.
There are notes added by the author and illustrator that are worth a look.
