Hug a Porcupine?
How Do You Hug a Porcupine? by Laurie Isop, illustrated by Gwen Millward. This fun rhyming book discusses how to hug all sorts of animals, but the problem is how do you hug a porcupine, that is without getting stuck. The illustrations are pencil draw with watercolors and acrylic ink. I like the picture that has the main boy character putting marshmallows on the porcupine quills. But thankfully he doesn't try to roast them! And the practical ending is carefully. I like this kid friendly book that solves an interesting problem. This could easily be used in any animal storytime or 'love' storytime around Valentine's day would work too. And there are lots more animals to suggest the children name more and how they would hug them - like a tiger?
